Manufacturing Week 2009

In Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec, there are over 600 companies engaged in manufacturing, employing well over 40,000 people. The fact that much of this is clean manufacturing, with few smoke stacks or visible signs of manufacturing, makes this less obvious. There is strong overlap between the high technology and manufacturing communities. Many companies are part of both environments.
Manufacturing Week, February 23 – 27 2009 is intended to highlight manufacturing in the region, to others in industry, to local school systems and students, and to the general public. The OMN wants to build on the success of Mfger week 2008, more tours and more manufacturing firms that will open their doors to the public.
A variety of events are planned for the week, some by invitation only, but many open to the general public. Highlights include:
