Environmental Compliance SIG

The European RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Directive being imposed on Electronic Equipment Producers and their supply chain is creating significant challenges in product conversion, materials declaration, and logistics. This is just the beginning of a significant increase in worldwide regulations dedicated to the elimination of hazardous substances and end of life management. The EU RoHS regulations became effective on July 1, 2006 and similar regulations in China, California, Korea, Canada, and South America and labelling requirements in Japan are just around the corner. Each set of regulations will have its own idiosyncrasies.

After a very successful series of four workshops on RoHS, the OMN is lauching an Environmental Compliance Special Interest Group (EC SIG) to continue the discussion and information sharing. The SIG will initially focus on the RoHS and WEEE regulations for Electronic Equipment Producers and their supply chain, but will evolve to cover other industry sectors as interest emerges.
